Several ironies that I find delightful have happened in the midst of this terrorist chaos.
* The insurrectionists wanted to stop Trump from leaving office. Instead they have encouraged his being forced out immediately through the 25th Amendment or impeachment.
* Insurrectionists seemed to think they were being patriotic heroes. Instead they are being identified quickly as stupid terrorists and many are losing their jobs.
* Republicans wanted to protest the reading of the Electoral College votes. Instead they contributed to a riot that held them prisoner for several hours, and the Electoral College voting proceeded.
* Republicans refused to even hear the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. Now he will likely be Attorney General.
* Trump is still claiming that elections are fraudulent and, thus, helped elect two Democrats from Georgia.
* Lauren Boebert (Colorado 3rd Congressional District) insisted on carrying her gun to congress to protect herself from imaginary bad guys, and instead she was held hostage by her own people.
* Republicans who preach law and order to protect themselves from black and brown people and fictitious “antifa” (anti-fascists) have been forced to learn the danger of real white fascists.
I’m sure there are more examples, but these are enough for celebration.
